Technical design, interior design and architectural students will need a number of standard metric scales during their studies.  Most plan, elevation and section drawings of buildings are printed out at a scale of 1:100 or 1:50 so that the whole building can fit onto a sheet of A1 paper (a common paper size for architectural drawings).  Whereas the scale 1:200 is often used for site plans, showing the external areas of a building such as the car park and drainage layouts and sketch schemes.
